CV8000 Bio-Electrographic Unit

Frequency Control / Intensity Control

Adjusting the Frequency and Intensity

The CV8000  high frequency output coil is adjustable from 20 kilohertz (khz) to 80khz with the frequency controls. Frequency must be matched to the subject being used. Only one specific frequency will work for each subject or specimen.

To adjust frequency: Connect transparent electrode to the high voltage output jack. Place subject in contact with the transparent electrode. Turn Intensity to 80%. Set Frequency to around 50 - 60K.

NOTE: The Intensity control is a high amperage rheostat. It is normal for it to feel rough when turning it.

Push the pulse button or pedal and check for a discharge. Adjust the base frequency until a discharge is achieved. If you cannot get a discharge, then try adjusting the frequency again. The light located on top of the unit will increase in intensity when the correct frequency is approached. Do not press the pulse button for more than 3 seconds at a time. Heat builds up very quickly under the specimen or subject and may cause burns or damage to the specimen if you are not careful.

A large specimen generally requires a higher intensity and a lower frequency than a small one. Small specimens such as fingertips need only 80% or less intensity. Large specimens such as a whole hand need 100% intensity.
